Rita
Mastrullo, Vice-Rector of the University of Naples Federico II, argues: «It is paramount to
promote the inclusion of refugee students by starting with language learning.
The Federico II intends to be active in the area so as to make a useful contribution
to all those who have been forced out of their countries, by offering them
shelter, language training, an intercultural dialogue and the promotion of
diversity.
The Italian Language and Culture courses, held by experts in L2
teaching at the University Language Centre (CLA), aim to foster a solid and
united cultural identity based on the understanding and respect of the other
cultures. In the current global scenario, marked by tragic armed conflicts, we
are all committed to ensuring that refugee students in Italy can successfully
integrate, with their own cultural backgrounds, primarily into the city that
welcomes them and then at university».
From
May 2022, face-to-face sessions will be organised simultaneously with online
ones with a view to allowing refugee students to become integrated into the
Federico II academic community.
