DIVERSITY AMBASSADOR

Inclusion ambassadors: the voice of multiculturalism


Introduction

 

In anticipation of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, established by the United Nations in 1966 and set for 21 March each year, the Federico II University Language Centre in collaboration with the II Level Master in Dramaturgy and Cinematography, promoted from the humanities department of Federico II, promotes the Call “Diversity Ambassador. Inclusion ambassadors: the voice of multiculturalism” for the selection of artists under 35 to be involved in specific cultural initiatives (conferences, seminars and/or study days, publications, etc.). The CLA and the Master want to undertake concrete actions and programmes against all forms of prejudice and discrimination for a real understanding and inclusion of diversity.


 

Call promoters

 

Federico II Language Centre (CLA)

Established with D.R. n. 4238 of 31.12.2001, carries out the following functions and activities: a. promotes multilingualism and interculturality,b. contributes to the development of multilingualism and the promotion of the learning of modern languages, including Italian as a second or foreign language;c. ensures curricular and extra-curricular language teaching and issues the certifications of the acquired language skills;d. carries out support activities for the recognition of training credits and for the achievement of internationally recognized certifications;e. provides consultancy, training, updating, translation and professional qualification services in favour of the University's teaching and research structures as well as university and extra-university bodies and institutions, as established in specific agreements;f. develops and manages a Sector of Studies specifically dedicated to the study of translation in its theoretical and practical aspects.

II Level Master in Dramaturgy and Cinematography

It aims to create, in the context of the theatrical and cinematographic system, a path aimed at training experts in dramaturgy and cinematography capable of operating in the field of entertainment and the cultural industry; new authors, theatre and film critics capable of working in newspapers, television and publishing; teachers of dramaturgy and cinematography in schools; publishers of theatrical, cinematographic and television texts. Great experts such as the screenwriter and director Salvatore Basile, the screenwriter Benedetta Gargano are just some of the names that during the various editions have enriched the specialization path, which includes Peppe Barra and Maurizio de Giovanni among the members of the Scientific Committee. Numerous experts and testimonies took part in the latest edition by Francesco di Leva, interpreter of The Mayor of the Sanità district (directed by Mario Martone), inaugurated our Summer School. Adriano Pantaleo, one of the protagonists recently on television of the remake on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, spoke to the trainees about his acting career and Arturo Muselli, the Blue Blood of the award-winning Gomorrah series, held a stage writing workshop for the trainees.


 

OBJECTIVES AND AIMS 

 

The Call is divided into three sections: Fiction and poetry / Video and photography / Illustrations and comics

The Call aims to stimulate young artistic creativity and the construction of multimedia narrative strategies to talk about diversity starting from the theme "Respect, sharing and inclusion of diversity". Candidates are therefore asked to create an unpublished work inspired by this theme in compliance with the characteristics listed below. The works object of the Call must be bearers of the vision of the cultural project of the CLA and the Master, which see the values ​​of multiculturalism and inclusion fully rooted in society as a primary element of well-being .


 

INTENDED AUDIENCE

 

Artists under 35

Individuals of all kinds and nationalities between 18 and 35 years old (born between 2004 and 1987).


 

HOW TO JOIN

 

Each candidate may only propose one work choosing only one of the creative means listed

Applications must be received, under penalty of exclusion, no later than 11 March 2022 exclusively online through the application form dedicated to the Call, available at the following link: https://forms.gle/xw6h9bQVpaTweYmu9 
Each candidate must have a Gmail account and send the following documentation through the form:
- Copy of a valid identity document (MAX 10MB);
- Educational and professional curriculum vitae (MAX 10MB);
- Work output (MAX 100MB) accompanied by a short text caption (max 1.000 words and MAX 10MB) illustrating the project idea and the creative process underlying the illustration or strip created and the affinities with the call theme. The following work types are eligible for participation: Illustrations and/or comic strips (maximum 6 cartoons), videos (maximum 120 seconds) and/or photographs, scripts and/or short stories (maximum 7,500 words) and/or poems. The works can be presented in black and white or in colour. Image files must be in .jpg format, videos in .mp4 format and text files in .pdf format. The texts must be in Italian. The stories and characters must be entirely unpublished: even partial reproduction of existing works is forbidden.


 

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The final results of the Call will be communicated by 13 March The selection committee, made up of Federico II professors and/or representatives of local institutions, will evaluate the papers using the following criteria, assigning 1 to 3 points for each item: 

- Quality of the project proposal
- Adherence to the theme "Respect, sharing and inclusion of diversity"- Creativity and originality
- Impact on the community
- Effectiveness of communication
- Evaluation of the curriculum vitae

The final results of the Call will be communicated by March 13 via email directly to the candidates (using the address provided in the application form) and publication of the ranking on the website www.cla.unina.it
The selected works will be included in a publication published by the Language Centre. The video works will be screened publicly and catalogued in the CLA video database. The most deserving works of the respective categories will be presented during a day of reflections on the topic to be held on 21 March at the University premises. The authors of the selected works will be awarded the title of Diversity Ambassador and will receive an open badge of competence. The selected authors will assign to the University Language Center all rights of analog and digital use of their works.


 

PRIVACY REGULATIONS

Participants in the Call consent to the processing of personal data for the purposes of the European Regulation on the protection of personal data EU 2016/679 for the sole purposes of the formalities necessary to implement the Call. The data will be stored and used only to carry out the selection procedure.
